Spec Needs You–And You Know You Need It Too
1. Reminder–SAGA Vol 3 hits shelves March 25!
SAGA, the epic Hugo-award winning space opera graphic novel series by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples, is coming out with their third volume (FINALLY!) You can pre-order your copy from your local comic shop, or bookstore. They left the last one on a gut-stabbing cliffhanger, so I am counting down the days until I can snap up Vol. 3.
Some amazing fantasy authors have gotten together to raise money to benefit the Challenger Centers for Space Science Education. Using a service called ‘storybundle’ you can pay whatever you like for this pile o’ books from Neil Gaiman, Brandon Sanderson, David Farland, and more! This incredible magazine is SO close to making their 600-subscription goal! Just shy of 200 subscriptions, they will be able to run the magazine all the way through 2014 if they meet their 600-sub goal by June. 4. Signal Boost for She Walks In Shadows
With only 7 days left on the Indiegogo Campaign, the all-women Lovecraftian antho She Walks in Shadows is so close to their fundraising goal of $8000 (*as of this moment, only $384 off!) that it would be sad if they didn’t make it! Pledge what you can today to take advantage of some of the unique perks they still have available, or just throw down $20 bucks to get the print and ebook editions. Plus, no matter what you get a squid button. Who doesn’t want that in their life?

6. Cemetery Dance is currently open to submissions
Cemetery Dance (the magazine) is looking ahead to October–from their submissions page: “[We are looking for] Halloween-based stories of a dark nature up to 6,000 words. We want tales that are powerful and emotional—creepy, chilling, disturbing, and moody. Originals preferred. One story per author, so please only send your very best story. 7. On Spec has hit a funding crunch.
One of Canada’s premier speculative fiction magazines–available in digital and hard copy–has come up with some funding challenges. Many projects like On Spec (and even traditional publishers) rely on grant funding in order to keep their doors open. But you can help! Consider subscribing today, or subscribing a friend. The last thing we’d want is for magazines like this one to disappear from the spec fic landscape.
