C4 Comic Con 2015–IT’S ALIVE!

C4 Comic Con 2015–IT’S ALIVE!

THAT’S RIGHT. It all started last year with a couple of doodles and a sweet dream, but this year I’m finally doing it. I’ve bought up 3 tables worth of space at C4 Comic Con, where Valkyrie Books, for the first time ever, will be REAL. No more fantasies (for now)–it’s happening. Peter and I moved to Brandon, MB about a week and a half ago, and now we are overcome with space. So I took over the basement living room to start building. BUILDING WHAT YOU MAY ASK?? Last year at C4 Comic Con, while sharing a table with the ever-incredible Chadwick Ginther, I looked around at the kinetic energy we were experiencing. What an insane rush. It helped that we were surrounded by our friends, but I will never forget how hard and fast the...

Infinitum–A Time Travel Noir Graphic Novel

Infinitum–A Time Travel Noir Graphic Novel

Now, while I worked on this in a professional capacity, I think I can still say it’s an incredible book, and endorse it, right? Well, it’s also MY blog, so. The book launches at McNally Robinson Booksellers tonight at 7 PM, with much pomp, ceremony, free art prints, and wine! You can grab the book there, or wherever books are sold. As always, I’m gonna say it because I don’t say it enough–before going to the Amazon Machine, head to your local and special order it using the handy-dandy product ISBN, if your local comic/book shop doesn’t have it in stock already. Gregory will also be doing the Canadian con circuit in full flux this year, in addition to other local events and workshops over the summer and Fall. You can also grab...

We Can Read It! + 2014 Harvey Nominees

Working on our eponymous mascot valkyrie, Hildy! And what better way than to combine her with some iconic lady empowering imagery. Expect a print or some kind of shirt in the near future! Also, staying in the comic spirit, The 2014 Harvey Nominees were announced today. Check ‘em out! Many favourites on the list, including one of the best I’ve yet come across this year–Little Nemo: Dream Another Dream from Locust Moon Press. Definitely something every comic-lover should have in their...

Times, They Are a’Changin’!

Times, They Are a’Changin’!

3 2 1 LAUNCH ENTIRELY NEW LIFE. So I got married at the end of May in Scotland, then sort-of-married again in Winnipeg in June. It’s been a wild ride. But now everything’s settled and some new epic things are about to go down. Today marks my last day being employed by someone else. I’m going rogue. For how long, who knows–but right now, I am just vibrating with The Hope and that shiny horizon. For a long time now, having a full-time, 9-5 job, has interfered with my plans. Plans to develop this brand, plans to branch out and expand my freelance clientele, and especially any and all plans that involved art–because, and you wouldn’t know it, but before all of this I had illustrator, painter, sculptor ambitions, beyond writing and...
